Oh Marvel, you silly, silly people. It’s cool though; you’ve given us Chris Evans’ Captain America…
…Whedonified Avengers (with bonus Spader), and paired up with Netflix for the best ever superhero show — if you won’t hire Katee Sackhoff as Carol Danvers, we’ll forgive you. Because, Katee’s so badass she envisioned her own kickass heroine, wrote the story for a series, and she’ll star in it too.
In partnership with Canada’s Reunion Pictures (Continuum, Olympus), Sackhoff will star in the dystopian science fiction world of Rain, her own creation. The actress will play the titular character, a soldier dealing with Earth’s decline after humanity has run through and misused its resources, as well as our evolution through “scientific manipulation of nature’s balance.” (Hmm, so probably not Cylons, but maybe genetically modified or “superior” beings?) Listen, you say either “dystopian science fiction” or “Katee Sackhoff,” and most of us are in; say both of them together — and the world might explode from our excitement.
Reunion Pictures’ Tom Rowe (Masters of Horror, Continuum) will executive produce, and calls Katee’s world “…compelling as both a sweeping vision and a very personal exploration of a civilization in harrowing decline by its own hand.”
Your loss, Marvel — for now, anyway. We’re still waiting for you to smarten up and correct this oversight (read: give her a future deal), but clearly Katee’s not the kind of girl to sit around waiting.
