'How I Met Your Dad' Will Not Be Picked Up By CBS
CBS has decided to pass on the How I Met Your Mother spin-off, How I Met Your Dad, despite the fact that — with that cast, the new showrunner, and Carter and Bays onboard — it was almost a surefire hit. Vulture’s Joe Adalian is reporting on Twitter that CBS wasn’t a fan of the pilot, and had asked to reshoot it. Carter and Bays, however, refused to do so unless they were guaranteed a series order. CBS wouldn’t offer one, so, it fell apart.
However, 20th Century Fox can now shop the pilot to other networks, and with that brand, it’s almost sure to be picked up somewhere. The fact that CBS — the network of Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men and 2 Broke Girls — had a problem with the pilot actually leads me to believe that it’s good. I mean, Greta Gerwig (who will also be writing), Anders Holms, Nick D’Agosto and Meg Ryan (as the narrator) sounds incredibly promising, even if it is the same premise as a show we’ve already seen for nine season.
On the bright side, many of you (who don’t watch Elementary and The Good Wife) can now delete CBS from your cable boxes!
