First, an administrative note: If you have not already added Hayley Atwell to your Pajiba 10, YOU KNOW YOU ARE WRONG — there’s still time to do it. Votes will be tallied through next Monday, and if you weren’t already convinced, just watch Cookie Monster Hayley — it’s impossible not to succumb (why yes, Disqus does allow edits).
And now, on to the actual news. As you may have heard, Agent Carter’s second season will find our Peggy having moved cross-country to Los Angeles, with a new “dangerous” mission, and new friends. But, if you’re anything like me, you adored Peggy’s old friends, and you may be wondering if any of them will be accompanying Agent Carter on her new adventure — or at least dropping by her new digs. I mean, weren’t there already plans made for Peggy and Angie (Lyndsy Fonseca)?
“It’s a conversation that is happening, and a conversation important to the showrunners…Hopefully, now that she’s (Peggy) able to confide in Angie, and being able to open up, this is the beginning of a true friendship. It is so nice to have a friendship between two women on screen that is not competitive, and not negative, not centered around the love interest or a man…we’ll want to pursue that more.” (Atwell)
Pursue, indeed! Ahem.
Besides Angie, there are a few other characters we’d consider a second season must, and luckily, it looks like ABC agrees. Here are the contracted regulars so far:
James D’Arcy (Edwin Jarvis)
Enver Gjokaj (Daniel Sousa)
No, wait. Although they don’t yet have confirmed deals, EW says these other Carter co-stars are in the process and that their contract announcements are forthcoming:
Lyndsy Fonseca (Angie Martinelli) — WHEW!
Bridget Regan (Dottie Underwood)
Chad Michael Murray (Jack Thompson)
Here’s the official season 2 description:
“Dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.”
Agent Carter returns next January. I guess there’s nothing to do but continue snacking until then…
