Need a break from your binge-watch weekends? Want to forcefully slow down your television habit, just like back in the olden days? Netflix is prepping a little willpower test, though not necessarily as a new model for their original series. Rather, because their latest series is produced with two Canadian partners (City and Shomi), they’ll slow down episodes of survivalist thriller Between to one per week. ONE PER WEEK. (Are you okay?) You poor Canadians are in even worse shape, because Netflix Canada will have to wait a whole year to see the series.
Led by Jennette McCurdy (iCarly, Sam & Cat), who plays the pregnant daughter of a minister, Between centers on a town hit by a mysterious plague that kills everyone over the age of 21. (RUDE.) The 6-part series opens with two episodes directed by Jon Cassar (24, La Femme Nikita), and co-stars Jim Watson (The Strain, Copper), Jesse Carere (Finding Carter, Skins), Wesley Morgan (Kick-Ass 2, Really Me), all living in the small town of Pretty Lake. When the “disease” hits and death reports start coming in, a quarantine is instituted, and its young residents are duly suspicious.
Here’s the first teaser, via McCurdy’s twitter:
Hmm…is it aliens or the government? (Could be those Apple hipsters finally figured out a way to pass a biohazard through iPhones.)
Find out what’s going on — very slowly — beginning May 21st.
