There are certain series doomed for cancellation from the moment they’re announced: anything starring Christian Slater or Mark Valley, about half the crime procedurals announced each season, and every Fox science fiction series you’re just starting to love. This one’s somewhere in the middle (all it needs is Valley; Slater somehow just got *another* series headline); I predict it’ll be canceled within a year.
From Homeland, Tyrant and 24 producer, Howard Gordon, and Life’s Rand Ravich comes yet another do-over, this time based on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein The twist of this “grounded science fiction drama” is that the “monster,” aka corrupt FBI agent Adam Tremble, is brought back to life younger and stronger. Beholden to his creators — “an antisocial Internet billionaire and his bio-engineer twin sister” — Tremble pops right back into his old job (as these sorts of characters tend to do), and tries to resist his old urges. Pardon me if I say this sounds like a hot mess, and maybe it’ll be better than it sounds…in which case Fox most definitely cancel it.
These have been the nonsensical ravings of a lunatic mind.
