I feel like American Godsis one of those adaptations like The Dark Tower that we have been talking about for years, but that never seems to happen. Both are finally happening now (as is the oft-discussed Preacher). Filming began this month in Toronto with showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. The cast for the Starz adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel is finally set.
Here’s what the cast looks like, and it looks great.
Laura Moon — Emily Browning
Mad Sweeney — Sean Harris
Bilquis — Yetide Badaki
Mr. Wednesday — Ian McShane
Low Key Lyesmith — Jonathan Tucker
Anubis — Chris Obi
Shadow Moon — Ricky Whittle
Technical Boy — Bruce Langley
Zorya Vechernyaya — Cloris Leachman
Czernobog — Peter Stormare
The Jinn — Mousa Kraish
The World — Crispin Glover
American Gods is expected to air later this year. Also, Starz is now available as a stand-alone streaming service. If you’re still carrying Showtime, Starz has better original programming. In fact, outside of Game of Thrones/Veep/Silicon Valley, Starz may be better than HBO right now.
