When Girls returns to HBO on January 11th, it’s going to have a new timeslot partner, a show from Jay Duplass and Mark Duplass called Togetherness starring Mark Duplass, Amanda Peet, Melanie Lynskey, and Steve Zissis. It also has the benefit, at least based on the trailer, of not being the kind of comedy that will alienate a lot of viewers, stir up tons of outrage, and provoke a thousand think pieces.
Indeed, Togetherness looks like the mumblecore version of Parenthood, which is a COMPLIMENT, jackass! I kind of wanna give the trailer a big, warm hug.
I really don’t understand how Mark Duplass does it: He’s got Togetherness, The League, he pops up on The Mindy Project, and he stars in five movies a year. And he’s not just starring in Togetherness, he co-created it, co-writes it, and is directing the series. He’s got two kids with his wife Katie Aselton, too. Where the hell does the guy find the time?
