Harrison Ford's Injury May Delay 'Star Wars Episode VII,' or Cause Big Script Changes

Everything’s under control; situation normal. Um, not quite. The story of Harrison Ford’s injury has gone from a minor incident to I-Think-We-Need-a-Better-Doctor, right quick. What started out as an amusing nerdtale, has morphed both in injury specifics (hurt ankle, to broken ankle to broken leg to broken foot) and recovery expectations (from a quick fix-up at the local hospital to this-might-be-a-long-haul).

The latest reports have Ford’s recovery time at up to six months, which, if the rumors that Han Solo is the film’s lead/main character are true, would severely hamper Episode VII filming. Supposedly, an “emergency meeting” took place at Pinewoods studio this morning to discuss whether production should be halted, or the script rewritten — either changing Ford’s involvement, or to work around his recovery schedule. Sources say Disney has been unwilling to change the film’s December 2015 release date, but maybe they’ll realize they have no choice. At least, I personally hope they realize they have no choice and delay, because I want that story. Meanwhile, the 71 year old actor is headed back to the United States to convalesce.
