“Happy Endings” has gone from being a not-unsuccessful mid-season replacement to being a mildly successful Wednesday night follow-up to its very popular and successful “Modern Family.” But it’s ratings have been deemed good enough for ABC to grant the best new live action sitcom since “Community” and “Parks and Recreation” a full season pick up. This is almost enough to make me re-think my desire to see the show move to NBC so Alex, Dave, Penny, Max, Brad, and Jane can join their rightful place alongside Jeff, Troy, Abed, Britta, Annie, Shirley, Pierce, Leslie, Ron, Tom, April, and Andy on Thursday nights, which is where it belongs in terms of tone and radassitude. Though the show would likely have suffered the same fate as “Perfect Couples” without the Emmy winning lead-in, no matter how much better it is.
Ah, well. It’s a celebration, bitches! And you know what that means… It’s .GIF giving time!
Oh, and it looks like ABC picked up full season orders on “Once Upon A Time” (eh) and “Last Man Standing” (ugh), as well. Apologies for the anti-climax.
Rob Payne also writes the indie comic The Unstoppable Force and tweets on the Twitter @RobOfWar. He could really go for a “happy ending” right about now, if you know what I mean.
