June 23rd, 1989. I was 10 years old and my favorite comic book hero was coming to the big screen. I was psyched to see it. I was wary of Beetlejuice being able to wear the cowl of Batman convincingly, but I was happy to let Michael Keaton win me over. Jack Nicholson didn’t need to convince me of his maniacal insanity and I didn’t care much at all about Kim Basinger. I was set.
I remember going to the theater and being terribly excited and glued to my seat. I also remember getting unexpectedly sick, barreling out of the theater, vomiting in the bathroom, and barreling right back in to watch the rest of the “Let’s get nuts!” scene. I loved it. The whole film; the way it felt, the way it looked, the way it made me feel. Here are five things that stuck with me.
1. The Batman:
2. The Batmobile:
3. Most every thing said by The Joker:
4: The terrifying results of the Joker Venom:
5: ALL OF THE THINGS!:
