'Hannibal' Invites 'True Detective' and 'True Blood' Veterans to Its Third Season Table

Well now, don’t these new Hannibal cast additions seem oddly appropriate? Glenn Fleshler aka True Detective’s über-creepy spaghetti monster (aka Errol Childress) is joining season 3 as NuMason Verger’s (Joe Anderson) personal physician, Cordell Doemling.

Seems Fleshler doesn’t mind a slight bit of icky typecasting; in True Detective, his character was a pedophile, and ***Minor Book Spoiler*** in Thomas Harris’ Hannibal, so is Cordell. Hopefully, as with the many other role adjustments Bryan Fuller has made, we won’t delve too far into Doemling’s background.

Additionally, Fuller’s brought on fellow human consumer (of sorts) — True Blood’s Rutina Wesley, who played late-to-the-turned-vamp-game, Tara Thornton.

Lucky(?) Wesley will play Reba McClane, a blind woman who’s in a relationship with Richard Armitage’s Francis Dolarhyde (aka the Tooth Fairy). Reba will temporarily ease Dolarhyde’s desire to kill, but as we all know, that can’t last. Armitage is set to begin his limited reign of terror around episode eight.

Y’all, I don’t even know how we’re going to survive Mads and Armitage on the screen together.

Hannibal returns this summer.
