I seem to be in the minority around here, but I’m still lightheartedly enjoying Gotham, mostly thanks to Robin Lord Taylor, Donal Logue, Sean Pertwee and Jada Pinkett Smith (I’ll have to agree with Dustin that Ben McKenzie retains his usual blandness). With young Bruce’s David Mazouz nailing his (larger than originally planned) role, looks like we might be spending a few more minutes with Master Wayne each week. And that segues us nicely into this nifty bit of news; one of our favorite space chicks ever is coming to Gotham City.
The talented and gorgeous Morena Baccarin joins the series as none other than Dr. Leslie Thompkins, the “gifted and dedicated physician” who had been good friends with Master Wayne’s parents. Of her introduction to Gotham, executive producer Danny Cannon says “Without giving too much away, Jim Gordon gets to meet her through strange circumstances when he is…at a very tough time in Jim’s life, he will meet Leslie Thompkins.” The good doctor’s comic character dates back to 1976; after the Waynes were murdered, Thomkins became — along with Alfred — Bruce’s caretaker. According to reports, Baccarin’s character will be working at Arkham Asylum’s Home for the Criminally Insane, and become close with Gordon. Lordy, I hope they have a wild fling, because I can’t take much more of that other Blandy McBlanderson — Erin Richards (Barbara Kean).
Baccarin will first appear as Dr. Thompkins early 2015.
Also coming soon are Harvey Dent (Nicholas D’Agosto), Tommy “Hush” Elliot, Victor Zsaz.
