'Gotham' May Get a Lot Punnier Than We Expected
So far the Gotham trailers and posters seem to be focusing as much (or more so) on the villains of Gotham as on Jim Gordon and Bruce Wayne. We already know we’ll see the origins of the Penguin and Catwoman, and we’ll get a new character in Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney. But director Danny Cannon is still gunning for one more addition.
I have a big pitch with Bruno [Heller] about the Mr. Freeze character, whose origins are uncertain. If I can win Geoff Johns over and if I can win Bruno over, then I look forward to the moment where that character can be realized.
This sounds like Cannon may be the only person involved who’s really that into the Mr. Freeze idea. And maybe for good reason. This is, after all, a character known primarily for ice-based puns.
And, just so you don’t think I’ve forgotten that bad jokes are limited to the live-action realm:
Although Canon did say he wants the villains’ reveals to have a “slow burn” over the course of the series. So maybe we could have a season or two of a nice old scientist who just loves bad jokes before we got to the freeze ray, dome-head part.
