On the heels of the success of 11-22-63, Hulu is at the book adaptation game again, this time with a new series based on the Margaret Atwood speculative fiction masterpiece, The Handmaid’s Tale, set to debut in 2017 with Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss, as the title’s main character ‘Offred.’ No word on whether or not she’s taken the role for the sole purpose of casting shade on a certain ex-husband who shares a first name with the novel’s Commander.

The novel has previously been adapted into a film starring Natasha Richardson as Offred. The series could mean two different Atwood adaptations could be on TV screens at once, with Darren Aronofsky’s still-in-development MaddAddam series for HBO.

Considering the content of the novel, of a dystopian, highly misogynist & fundamentalist future that may or may not actually be post-apocalyptic, we think any badassery from Moss may be a little more on the subtle scale and a little less as brazen as this:

But probably still pretty badass. It’s still Elisabeth Moss after all.
