Hoping to repeat the success of last year’s two-part Christmas special, “The End of Time,” Steven Moffat is bringing on a grand guest star and another pop mistress. Harry Potter’s beloved Dumbledore, Michael Gambon, and singer Katherine Jenkins will appear in “the most Christmassy Christmas special,” says Moffat. Er, sounds a little dorky dude, but then again, so is Matt Smith.
Moffat promises an exciting episode with A Christmas Carol twist, declaring, “We’re going for broke with this one. It’s all your favourite Christmas movies at once, in an hour, with monsters. And the Doctor. And a honeymoon. I’ve honestly never been so excited about writing anything. I was laughing madly as I typed along to Christmas songs in April.”
I don’t know about all y’all, but I’m a little done with all this season’s lovey-dovey stuff. It’s starting to feel less like Doctor Who and more like some bad tweener romance show. That said, I’ll take a little Michael Gambon imparting his elderly wisdom upon young Eleven — just please, no flirting with Amy.
