Does Marvel Have a Strange Avengers: Age of Ultron Post-Credits Cameo Planned?

This week’s Marvel rumor is a doozy; just reading it made me feel kind of goosebumpy!

Let’s take things in order though. Marvel stuff is kinda like sex — you want to take it nice and slow; provide a little foreplay, and not blow your load in the first paragraph. Also, this pertains to some potential spoilers I’ve mentioned before. For those of you who can’t bear the thought of even a possible SPOILER, now’s the time to gather up your things and leave.

Are they gone?

Okay, so rumor has it that either the Age of Ultron end scene — or post credits tease — will feature Captain America assembling a new team, comprised of both new superheroes, and ones we’re already familiar with. Previously, there’s been talk that the new additions will include Carol Danvers (restart the Katee chant here). Word is, it wasn’t just a coincidence Marvel announced Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange at this particular time — he’ll be a part of the Cap’s new team.

As noted by The Inquisitr, the Age of Ultron trailer featured shots of a gurney and a mansion on a mountain; it’s possible Cumberbatch is doing a straight up cameo.

Either one of these ideas is exciting, but which scene is the more likely scenario? Age of Ultron reshoots are causing a lot of speculation, so it could all be wrong, but in the scheme of recent Marvel announcements, the new team theory could fit. Still, I like the cameo idea.

In semi-related news, while appearing on Wednesday’s Nerdist podcast, Cumberbatch made a statement about Sherlock that has the webosphere abuzz. Speaking with Chris Hardwick about the differences between Sherlock and Doctor Who:

“One uses a sonic screwdriver and time travel and the other uses his brain and isn’t 900 years old and isn’t reincarnated.

Sherlock talks fast and is clever, that’s literally the only bracket they share. They’ve got different dress senses, different tastes in the sex of their partners…”

And suddenly everyone’s screaming: Did Ben just out Sherlock as gay? Let the Tumblr wars begin.
