Here's What You Missed While Recovering from Your Super Wednesday Hangover

— Ian McShane will play Mr. Wednesday on the TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods. That’s the good news. The bad? It’s still on Starz, which is still a low priority network for most television consumers.

— The TV Academy ruled today that The X-Files would have to compete as a regular series — rather than a limited one — in this year’s Emmys. The TV Academy, however, didn’t have the heart to tell Chris Carter that it didn’t matter in which category it was placed, because it wasn’t going to get nominated for anything except Extraordinary Achievement in Bad Wigs.

— AMC has ordered the anthology series, The Terror, based on Dan Simmons’ bestselling novel. A fictionalized account of Captain Sir John Franklin’s lost expedition of HMS Erebus, The Terror is set in 1847, when a Royal Naval expedition crew searching for the Northwest Passage is attacked by a mysterious predator that stalks the ships and their crews.

— Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) has been added to the cast of ABC’s Dirty Dancing remake. She’ll play Baby’s sister, Lisa Houseman, which recalls one of my favorite family idiosyncrasies: My father’s sister (my Aunt) is named Sister. My grandparents were clearly from the lazy school of baby naming. At any rate, Abigail Breslin will play Baby. The remake will be three hours long.

— There will be a second season of Fuller House on Netflix. It will undoubtedly continue to pave the way for other revivals, like Ned’s Declassified Parenting Survival Guide and Just the Three of Us, a sequel to the 80s series Just the Ten of Us that focuses on the aftermath of a mass shooting and the only three surviving family members. If news headlines are going to normalize mass shootings, Netflix may as well join in.

— Disney’s fantastic Big Hero 6 is getting a television series, which will debut on Disney XD in 2017.

— There are rumors that Jenna Coleman’s replacement on Doctor Who will be played by Rakhee Thakrar, who will become the first Asian companion on the series.
