David Boreanaz has a new show out next month, and daaaaamn…

If you aren’t following David Boreanaz’s Instagram account, you might have missed some updates on his new action-drama show, SEAL Team, which is out next month on CBS. Of course, this is Important Trade News, but who am I kidding? We’re here for the pictures. And they don’t disappoint.

Boreanaz has come a long way since his Buffy days, where his acting consisted of three different facial expressions: brooding, smirking, and panting. Hey, we all loved him anyway. Angel’s spin-off gave the character some space to exist on his own terms, and — potentially unpopular opinion alert — Angel ended up a better show than Buffy. (Ducks and runs away.) It was a strange day when I realised that I loved Booth from Bones more than Angel, but again this was a more nuanced character. (Did anyone else watch all of Bones or was it just me? I miss that show…)

So how will his new character measure up? From what we know so far, Boreanaz plays Jason Hayes, the leader of an elite team of Navy SEALs. (Er, hence the name of the show.) CBS describes the concept of the show as follows:

“The fearless Navy SEALs conduct high-risk, clandestine missions against impossible odds. But when they return to the homefront, they face stress of a different nature. Keeping secrets, deploying at a moment’s notice, and the knowledge that each assignment could be their last takes a toll on these brave warriors and their families. However, their unbreakable oath and patriotism compel them to persevere.” From CBS.

Check out the trailer here. It looks a lot like Strike Back, but with David Boreanaz. OK, I’m in. Wait — IT HASN’T BEEN PICKED UP IN THE UK YET?

SEAL Team is set to premiere on CBS on September 27th. I’m not jealous in the slightest.
