Last night was the Creative Arts Emmys which typically award things like cinematography, costume design, art direction, hairstyling, and other below the line professionals. They’re still very important for people in those fields but there are few surprises there (Game of Thrones won a ton of stuff, American Horror Story: Freak Show came in just behind) but if you want a full list Deadline has a good one so you can learn who won the Emmy for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single Camera Series. (It was Nic Collins for Downton Abbey. Saved you 20 seconds.)
But there were a few acting awards given out at the ceremony as well, which I find odd. The Guest Actor/Actress awards for comedy and drama were handed out last night, as well as award for Outstanding Television Movie. Anyway, here are the acting awards who apparently don’t deserve to get to be on stage during the fancy, live-televised Emmys:
Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series: Bradley Whitford as Marcy in Transparent.
Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series: Joan Cusack as Sheila Jackson in Shameless.
Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series: Margo Martindale as Claudia in The Americans.
Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series: Reg E. Cathey as Freddy Hayes in House of Cards.
Oh, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver won for Outstanding Interactive Program so congratulations to everyone who has “interacted” with John Oliver for making that happen for him. I am almost certain that voting for him for the Pajiba 10 counts.
