Over the weekend, as rumors had predicted, Zack Snyder will follow up his Man of Steel sequel with a stand-alone Justice League movie, which will incorporate other Warner Brothers’ superhero characters that have not been properly fleshed out into a stand-alone film that will probably have very little of the world-building associated with the Marvel films.
Who will make up the superhero cast? Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are safe bets, but other than that, it’s hard to know because there aren’t any other WB superhero movies in the works, and The Green Lantern was a disaster. We probably will not see a Justice League movie until sometime around 2019 or 2020, anyway, and when movies are announced for that far in advance, things are likely to shift significantly. Hell, Ben Affleck will be 47 by that time.
In the meantime, Sue Kroll, an executive at the WB, suggests that a Wonder Woman/Diana Prince film may also come along: “With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her.”
My response to that, of course, is f*ck you. The world has been ready for a Wonder Woman movie for years/decades. It’s the nimrods at Warner Brothers who haven’t been ready to make it.
