Colin Farrell Lowers Total Recall Expectations Precipitously

There are less than a dozen people in the world who actually are looking forward to the remake of Total Recall, and at least half of them work for Philip K. Dick’s estate. When the film first started grinding into gear, rumors erupted that the remake would be ignoring the 1990 Schwarzenegger and Verhoeven version and staying close to the original source material. Colin Farrell was cast as the lead in the remake and took the time to sit down at an interview to excitedly reveal details that don’t just lower the already minuscule expectations, but burn them and then salt the ground.

Said Mr. Farrell:

“Total Recall, again, another thing I loved. Verhoeven’s is so brilliant, so brilliant. I loved it and, again, all these kind of [mock screams after hearing about the remake]. I just really liked the script.”

The nice thing about working for a site that emphasizes “no junkets” right there in the headline is that I have never had to endure Colin Farrell squealing like a little girl over a movie best remembered for having a trimammary stripper. You have a stronger will than I, Mr. CinemaBlend Reporter. I’m not sure I would have made it out of the room without being physically assaulted by Farrell.

Farrell went on to insist that the new film will be firmly grounded in the world created by Verhoeven.

“There’s literally stuff to be done with that same story. And it’s not, and I read some blurb it’s going back to the original short story. No it’s not! It’s Kafka, the original short story, I mean it was Philip K. Dick, but it was so dark and it was such a kind of omnipresent sense of power and corruption, and that plays into ours as well, but it’s not nearly as dark as the original. But it’s good stuff. It’s good stuff. So I’m going to start that in a couple weeks.”

When you present an itemized list of everything you won’t be doing in a movie, and it happens to line up pretty well with everything that made the source material great, well, maybe they shouldn’t have let you talk without a teleprompter.
