The goddess known in our Earth language as Christina Hendricks has her post-Mad Men gig all lined up, and it sure is a step in a non-Joan direction. Hendricks has joined the cast of Another Period, a Downton Abbeyish comedy, executive produced by Natasha Leggero and Garfunkel & Oates’ Riki Lindhome. The goddess will play a mysterious servant named Chair on the show, which is about a couple of wealthy women killing time in 1902, and is one of a small slew of female-centric shows Comedy Central is currently developing.
So yay for hilarious women on our TVs and double yay for Christina Hendricks being one of them. But if your first reaction was “Score! Period servant costumes are probably all skimpy and corsety. This is gonna be awesome,” know that most turn of the century servants looked less like this:
