Chris Hemsworth's Man Vs. Whale Drama Pushed To December
As follow-up to his racing drama Rush, director Ron Howard has tackled In Heart The Of The Sea, the true story of man versus whale that inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. As someone who read the book penned by Nathaniel Philbrick, I can tell you this is sure to be one wild ride that promises a massive whale, a shipwreck, insane struggles to survive, and cannibalism. But after releasing a tantalizing teaser, Warner Bros. has shifted the release of this high seas drama, and raised its stakes.
The Wrap reports WB has bumped In Heart The Of The Sea’s release from April 17th to December 11th. And savvy award season watchers will realize exactly what this means: Warner Bros thinks they have an Oscar contender on their hands. At least they better damn well, because if December is a hot-bed for award season attention, so box office competition is stiff.
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Ben Whishaw, Benjamin Walker and Tom Holland, In Heart The Of The Sea lies alone on its new release date, for now. And while this news suggests this film is even better than we’d previously hoped, it also means we have to wait longer for this wet and brawny Hemsworth fest.
