CBS, whose Supergirl is set to premiere later this month — “she’s faster than a bullet, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, and lousy in bed!” — is now looking to develop a modern take on Nancy Drew, the immaculate and self-possessed fictional teenage sleuth.
In the potential CBS version, however, Nancy drew will be in her 30s. She’ll probably also be a neurotic basket case with impeccable observational skills and history with choosing the wrong guy!
“Nancy Drew will be “a contemporary take on the character from the iconic book series. Now in her 30s, Nancy is a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.”
Good! Because whenever we think of Nancy Drew, we want to think of her as leggy blonde who wears short skirts, solves mysteries by observing Facebook profiles, and can’t decide whether to get an IUD or stick with the pill, and often solicits her best friend’s advice on which pair of pants makes her ass look the best.
On the other hand, with the exact right casting, all will be forgiven (and by exact right casting, I mean Kristen Bell).
