Casey Wilson and Adam Pally Speak to the 'Happy Endings' Countdown Clock
It’s now less than two weeks away from “a new day,” as promised by the Happy Endings countdown clock from the Happy Endings account on Twitter, which has been teasing an announcement on April 1st for weeks. As much as we’d all love to see that it is an announcement that Happy Endings is returning — especially now that Eliza Coupe’s sitcom has been cancelled, and both Adam Pally and Damon Wayans, Jr. have left their respective sitcoms — that seems unlikely, as Casey Wilson, Zachary Knighton and Elisha Cuthbert are all obligated to their current sitcoms (I think that both Knighton’s and Cuthbert’s debuted last night, and I missed them both).
Granted, Marry Me is not going to be renewed, and the fact that there is very little buzz over Knighton and Cuthbert’s sitcoms suggest that may be free by the summer, too. But no, it’s not a Happy Endings resurrection.
Probably, at least according to Adam Pally, but mostly Casey Wilson, who have both spoken to the Countdown Clock this week.
Adam Pally via Indiewire: I do know [what it is]. I’m not allowed to say anything. I don’t want to be cryptic or vague, but let’s say I know a little bit.
Adam Pally via HuffPo: “I’ll tell you this: I know the origin of that ‘Happy Endings’ countdown clock was not intended to be where it is headed,” he said. “That’s as much as I can give you.”
Casey Wilson on the Alison Rosen podcast via E!: “I don’t know. It’s nothing to my knowledge. I think it might be our writers assistant was joking around, and unfortunately I don’t think it’s a welcome joke for everyone,” she said.
“I don’t love that he did it, to be honest…To my knowledge there’s nothing moving forward, I’m still on a show…So nothing, sadly, and I apologize if it got anyone excited,” Wilson said.
So, it’s all just a really cruel April Fool’s joke, or Casey Wilson is adding to the mystery, and it will be something along the lines of a reunion video. Or maybe the countdown clock is a coded, and that’s how long the Prime Minister has to have sex with a pig before a kidnapped princess is murdered.
