After bringing the Golden Globes its highest ratings in six years and hosting maybe the best Golden Globes performance ever, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have agreed to come back and host not just next year, but the year after, as well. And why not? Fey doesn’t currently have a show, while Poehler’s low-rated Parks and Recreation may be coming to an end soon. Maybe the hosting gig can be a prelude to their own sitcom, an updated version of Laverne and Shirley the two have been developing for years (in my mind, anyway).
According to THR, it does take the two out of the Oscar hosting conversation, although who gives a sh*t? There’s more booze at the Golden Globes, and therefore, more opportunities for Tina Fey nip slips, and brilliant Amy Poehler reaction shots.
Some suit at NBC had something nice to say about the development. Allow your eyes to glaze over.
“Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business, and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season,” said NBC president of alternative and late night programming Paul Telegdy. “We’re elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years.”
