'Black Panther' Is Going To Be Huge
I’m not telling any of you anything you don’t already know, but it might be nice to have a statistic to reinforce your gut feeling that Black Panther is gonna be a monster smash hit at the box office. Not only is it one of the — if not the — most anticipated movie of 2018 — but it’s outpacing ticket sales of Captain America: Civil War on Fandango within the first 24 hours.
Civil War earned $179 million at the box office on its opening weekend, the sixth best opening of all time. Black Panther may beat that. I believe that Coming to America holds the record for highest grossing film worldwide for a film with a majority black cast with $288 million. Black Panther is likely to beat that worldwide in its opening weekend.
Meanwhile, I can’t get tickets to it yet because Fandango keeps crashing on me, so (shameless plug) if you have Atom Tickets in your market, download the app and purchase it that way. You can also buy your concessions through the app, and when you show up to the theater, there’s a freakin’ dedicated line to Atom users and they’ll have your popcorn waiting for you. They also use Apple Pay so you can do all of this in under 45 seconds WITH YOUR THUMB.
