Biz Break: Notoriously Not Nice Person Sarah Michelle Gellar Throws the Buffy Movie Under the Bus

Welcome to Biz Break, the post where we take an intriguing headline to draw you in, and then dump a lot of news bits that don’t warrant their own post into your lap. LET’S DO THIS!

Let’s start with the news that, though Pacific Rim wasn’t a big hit domestically (and we know why!), the film is doing quite well internationally (it’s up to $140 million so far, as opposed to the $87 million domestically), so there may indeed be a sequel, after all. I don’t want to be reductive about this, but my guess is that international audiences aren’t as bothered by the bad, cheesy, jingoistic, hoorah dialogue.

Meanwhile, David Conrad has signed on in a recurring role in the first season of Marvel’s SHIELD. I don’t really know who that is, but he looks like this blandy McBlanderson:

In a year that has seen the losses of Roger Ebert, James Gandolfini and several others, the Emmy Awards producers are trying to find a way to add an special tribute to Cory Monteith, outside of the In Memoriam.

I mean, I’m sad about Monteith’s death, and he was way to young, but if Roger Ebert and James Gandolfini don’t get their own tribute, then the guy from “Glee” doesn’t warrant his own, either. No offense. RIP.

Oh, and now we officially know why Rob Lowe and Ann Perkins are leaving “Parks and Recreation.” It’s exactly what we thought.

In other news, Sarah Michelle Gellar suggests that, if the right story came along, she’d consider doing a Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, but that’s not going to happen. We all understand that. The more troubling quote was this one, from Gellar:

“But the thing with Buffy is that Buffy was a movie, and it ultimately didn’t work as a film.”

Oh, Gellar: You just go straight to hell. The film was wonderful, you bad-mouthing heathen. That is a really uncalled for swipe, and just for that, when “Psych” starts doing late ’90s-inspired episodes, I hope they don’t invite you.

*washes hands of Gellar*

What else do we got? Uh, it looks like Seth Meyers is staying at Weekend Update right up until he moves over as the new host of “Late Night,” so he’s going to be around on “SNL” for most of the year.

Meanwhile, Donald Glover is making weird teaser videos with Topanga for a forthcoming Childish Gambino album.

What the hell, man?

Finally, Neil Patrick Harris is taking on the role of Hedwig in the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and here he is discussing what is involved in taking on the role, i.e., duct taping it into the tuck position.
