We already know that the JJ Abram Star Wars sequels will have spinoffs interlaced with their release. This is to say, they’re putting out a Star Wars-related film every bloody year for the foreseeable future to appease The Mouse. The first name attached to a spinoff, set for release December 16, 2016, was Gareth Edwards (Godzilla). We now have another director for another spinoff: Josh Trank.
Sure, he’s busy with that Fantastic Four re-boot and Fox is already planning a sequel for that in 2017. Let’s all speculate what this would mean. 2015 is the Star Wars sequel release date. Then the Star Wars movie that isn’t part of the sequel will be in 2016. That means that the Star Wars sequel of the sequels will be released in 2017. Trank’s Star Wars movie, which I assume is not a sequel to the non-sequel movie, would then be released in 2018. Should we then count Trank out for the FF sequel?
Sequel just looks strange now.
Speaking of strange (Did you see what I did there, people? Segue like it is my job!), newly minted Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson may have found his leading man. Rumors are screeching that Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto has been cast as the Sorcerer Supreme.
Whaddya think, sirs?
