There was a lot of movement over on AMC today. Perhaps sensing that neither Halt and Catch Fire nor Turn are likely to take off (or even gain second seasons), AMC sought to better ensure that the next new show in their pipeline would. The network has decided to push the release of the Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul until early 2015 (from November 2014) to air after The Walking Dead, the highest rated show on cable.
With that cushy position, and of course, Better Call Saul’s pedigree (Vince Gilligan is directing the pilot), AMC felt confident enough to renew Better Call Saul for a second season (they’ve probably also read a script and have a rough idea of where the show is going, too). That second season will air in the early part of 2016.
Meanwhile, they also released a first new photo from the set (see above), of Bob Odenkirk (as Saul) and co-showrunners Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould.
