Affleck Left the Director's Chair and Now He May Want to Take Off the Cowl Too
When Ben Affleck signed on to play an older, assier Batman, people were foaming with rage. Then there was the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie where the highest praise I heard was “It’s not that bad” and “Ben Affleck is a really good Batman.” These are not enough to make me watch the movie (DO YOU SEE THAT, JESSE? I STILL HAVEN’T WATCHED IT!)
Word of another Batman solo movie (cleverly titled The Batman) came from DC/Warner Bros. and Affleck was slated to star and direct. Joe Manganiello would be a sexy, sexy Deathstroke and the DC Universe would have an Academy Award winner in front of and behind the camera. Recently, word on the street is that Affleck will not be directing The Batman and that Matt Reeves (Planet of the Apes) is taking the helm. That was 4 days ago.
Now Collider Movie Talk host John Campea is saying he heard from three different Warner Bros. sources that Affleck doesn’t want to be the Bat anymore. He wants to drop the franchise and leave the DC Cinematic Universe even sadder than it already is.
I just want to know who will replace Affleck as Batman, because you know there cannot be a DCCU without him. Here are some ideas:
Sure, he’s Thanos for the MCU, but a girl can dream.
I’m kidding. It would be funny, though.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan
He’s not in the MCU yet, right? Because this list is tough because of the number of actors in the MCU.
