We already knew Queen Natalie Dormer would be co-starring in a movie called Patient Zero, a post-zombie apocalypse movie about a Chosen One who somehow A) is immune to zombieism and B) has the ability to communicate with zombies. Via Deadline, we now know Doctor Who’s Matt Smith will star. Here’s the official description:
In Patient Zero, an unprecedented global pandemic of a super strain of rabies has resulted in the evolution of a new species driven by violence. An inexplicably immune human survivor with the ability to communicate with this new species must spearhead a hunt for Patient Zero in order to find a cure to save his infected wife and humanity.
No one’s actually said Dormer’s playing the wife, though it seems like a good bet. Maybe—and I’m just spitballing here—she plays someone with an active role in reversing the zombie apocalypse, so Patient Zero isn’t another movie about a white guy with a heavy case of family-related manpain saving humanity. Yeah, World War Z, I’m looking at you. I’m looking right at you.
Behind the cameras, Patient Zero is being directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters, Deadfall) and written by Mike Le, who’s written one film that hasn’t come out yet and a Iraq War movie with the tagline “It Don’t Gitmo Better’n This.” I’m just putting that out there.
Stay away from Brad Pitt, guys. But if you want to bring in W.H.O. Doctor Peter Capaldi, I’d be OK with that.
