In texts obtained by TMZ between Argento and a purported friend of hers, Asia Argento admitted that she and Jimmy Bennett had sex, contradicting her denial to the NYTimes yesterday, in which she shifted blame for the payoff to her late boyfriend, Anthony Bourdain.
In the text exchange, she confessed that the two had sex, but that she didn’t know that he was underage until she received the “shakedown letter.” She also explained away the photo of the two topless in bed by texting that “You can only see my tits. It doesn’t mean shit.”
In the exchanges, she also said that Bennett was “horny” and pursued her, saying that she was his “sexual fantasy” since he was 12 years old; that it was not rape but that “she was frozen” and that the sex was “weird.” She also said that he sent unsolicited nudes to her for years, right up until two weeks before he sent the “shakedown letter.”
She also texted a note from Bennett in which he confessed his love for her right after the sexual encounter. “Asia, I love you with all my heart. So glad we met again and I’m so glad your in my life. Jimmy.”
Argento has not offered comment yet on the leaked text messages, although she did say in the texts that if she loses her job, she will move to Africa or the Amazon forests, where no one “gives a fuck about this shit.”
Argento’s father, famed director Dario Argento, also defended his daughter today, writing in an Italian newspaper that there is “an air of conspiracy” around the allegations, and believes it may be part of an effort by Harvey Weinstein to discredit her.
