Are You Excited For Edgar Wright's 'Baby Driver' Yet? You Maybe Should Be
News of Edgar Wright’s next movie Baby Driver has been coming out slowly over the last few months. What started as a big “No seriously, Marvel, effff yooouuuuu” has turned into a fascinating sounding film.
First we heard that the movie would be “the ultimate rock-and-roll car chase film” and “a collision of crime, action, music and sound,” separate from, but in the same vein as his Cornetto Trilogy. Then we found out our babyfaced baby driver would be played by Ansel Elgort, and also got hints of a Drive-meets-Scott Pilgrim sort of plot.
Plot follows a talented, young getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. After being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom. Now it’s been announced that Cinderella herself (in the human form of Lily James) will be Elgorbert’s love interest, and some more plot points have been revealed that explain just how important Wright’s soundtrack will be to the film.
Ansel Elgort is set to star as a young mute man who has an ear condition that forces him to constantly listen to music in order to drown out the constant ringing in his ears. His character is a driver for a group of bank robbers who goes on the run after a heist goes bad.Hmm… Action?
Well, that certainly sounds straight out of the Edgar Wright wheelhouse, doesn’t it? There’s no release date yet, but the movie set to start shooting this fall in New Orleans.
