Are We One Step Closer to Six Seasons and a 'Community' Movie?

The best thing to come out of the Community PaleyFest panel last night was definitely this animated fake PSA featuring Britta as “Buzzkill” and Abed as “Fourth Wall,” aimed to keep kids off… stuff.

The second best part, though? The declaration that there will definitely, probably, in one form or another, be a sixth season of Community. Even though nothing has been confirmed by the NBC, Gillian Jacobs swears, “It’s happening. Come on.” And Gillian Jacobs is no liar. Dan Harmon added,

We’re on our fifth year of near-cancellation. The only thing weirder than getting a sixth season would be not getting a sixth season.

In a recent interview, Harmon also said,

The title of the book about the show is not Community, An Interesting Journey into a Show No One Ever Watched. The title of the book is obviously going to be, Six Seasons and a Movie.

The fifth season is set to end on some big cliffhangers, and there have been rumors of Donald Glover returning to the show, both of which, in a fantasy world where only good things happen, make a sixth season seem likely. And even if NBC does prove to be run by supervillains and cancels the series, the show’s digital rights are owned by Hulu, so there’s a hope of it continuing on there. Reportedly, at least one director has been considered for the hypothetical movie: Justin Lin, who directed a bunch of Fast & Furious as well as a few Community episodes (most notably the first Paintball ep).

As a kicker, Joel McHale has given a description of his dream version of what the Community film would look like, and it’s beyond acceptable.

We would all, of course, be board with this. My dream version, though, really only needs one thing:

Via TV Guide and EW.

Vivian Kane knows that in that fantasy world where good things happen, Joel McHale is involved in all movie brainstorming sessions.
