Are These the Complete 2014 SAG Award Nominations, Because It Looks Like They Left Off Some Things

The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) were announced this morning, and leading the way with four nominations was Modern Family, which really is a show that doesn’t get the love and recognition it deserves from awards ceremonies so, whew, bullet dodged there! And sure Modern Family’s four nominations didn’t leave room for other shows like Broad City, blackish or Review or even Jane the Virgin to get nominations, but again, the important thing here is that Modern Family (and Big Bang Theory) got some much needed love.

Meanwhile, in the television drama category, apparently the SAG folks forgot about Mad Men and Fargo this year (Oh wait, nope; Billy Bob got a nomination. My bad!), but Downton Abbey and a relatively weak season of House of Cards continued to be favorites among SAG voters. You know, guys, don’t worry about the best female performance of the year, in Allison Tolman. She’ll be back next season … oh wait. (Props for at least including Tatiana Maslany).

In the film categories, Birdman crushed it, as it should have, as did Boyhood. Jennifer Aniston (hahahahaha) managed to fool voters by removing her makeup and putting on glasses, and she landed a nomination for Cake. The casts of Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, and The Theory of Everything also played well, while Kirk Cameron’s performance in KIrk Cameron’s Saving Christmas failed to leave an impression. Maybe next time, Kirk Cameron should put his name in the film’s title twice. Elsewhere, that movie all the critics seem to love, Selma, raked it in with a whopping zero nominations.
