Some opening weekends are more brutal than others.

Misconduct, a legal thriller starring two of the greatest screen male actors of their time, as well as Malin Akerman and Josh ‘Which Generic White Dude Is This Again? It’s Not Sam Worthington Is It? ’ Duhamel, and costing £11 million to make, has recouped just £97 on its opening weekend in the UK.

To be fair, it opened only on five screens.

To be even more fair, that means its per-site average was £19.40. Which is, well: shit.

To be fair again, according to the Guardian:

The cinemas were all regional Reel cinemas, in locations including Kidderminster and Burnley, and the opening coincided with a digital release, making the film simultaneously available to stream at home.

Misconduct is the story of a lawyer, played by Josh Duhamel, caught up in a nefarious plot involving kidnap and murder. The film also stars Alice Eve, Julia Stiles and Malin Åkerman. It was set to star Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens, but he had to leave the film after a scheduling conflict.

And, here’s the real important bit:

‘It was originally titled Beyond Deceit, but during production too many people thought it sounded like Beyond Da Sea.’
