THIS IS NOT A DRILL: Amy Poehler Is Bringing Carol Burnett Back To TV!
Living legend Carol Burnett shaped the sense of humor of generations and countless comedians with her heralded and hilarious sketch series The Carol Burnett Show, which ran from 1967 to 1978. Since then, Burnett has popped up on a wide array of shows from the spinoff Mama’s Family, to Mad About You, All My Children, Glee, and Hawaii Five-O. But now fellow comedy queen Amy Poehler is gifting us all with an all-new Burnett series!
THR reports the unnamed series “centers on a family who gets the chance to buy the house of their dreams — one that they could never afford — on the condition that they live with the current owner, an older actress (Burnett), until she dies.”
In related news, Poehler has apparently been sneaking peeks at my dream journal.
Poehler will executive-produce the series, Michael Saltzman (Murphy Brown, Wings, Halt and Catch Fire) will pen the script for the pilot. The luckiest actors alive will be cast to co-star with Carol Friggin’ Burnett.
Kristy Puchko wanted to grow up to be Burnett’s Miss Hannigan, bathtub gin and all.
