Get Ready Betties and Baldwins, Amy Heckerling Says A 'Clueless' Musical Is Definitely Happening

Attention fans of ’90s awesomeness: Amy Heckerling, the creator of the best Beverly Hills Jane Austen adaptation the decade had to offer, says that Clueless is finally heading to Broadway. With the production team that did Jersey Boys and the original Broadway run of Into the Woods, and the director of Rock of Ages, things are definitely moving forward.

Before you go fantasizing your ultimate original power ballads (“Technical Virgin” and “Sporadical Love” are mine, if we’re sharing), Heckerling says this will be a jukebox musical, meaning it will use already existent pop songs. Good thing that movie has a built-in 100% perfect soundtrack already.

Keep in mind, though, that this still sounds to be a ways off. Broadway spectaculars are a long game. “Everything goes so slowly,” according to Heckerling. “I thought movies took a long time.”
