AMC Apologies For Dumb 'The Walking Dead' Spoiler, and the Spin-Off Gets a Title

AMC, however, learned the hard way on Sunday that timeliness and Facebook reach are not as important as not pissing off your viewers, after they posted a major The Walking Dead spoiler to Facebook identifying the character who died only seconds after the episode aired on the East Coast, thus spoiling the episode for everyone in every other time zone who happened to be on Facebook and followed The Walking Dead.

AMC has apologized, and their apology — posted to Facebook — was actually kind of cute:

“We heard your feedback to last night’s post, and we’re sorry,” the post read. “With zero negative intent, we jumped the gun and put up a spoiler. Please know we’re going to work to ensure that, in the future, possible spoilers by official AMC social feeds are killed before they can infect, certainly before the West Coast (U.S.) broadcast of The Walking Dead. As always, thank you for watching, and keep the comments coming. We appreciate all of your support. #RIPSpoiler”

Meanwhile, Deadline is also reporting that the Walking Dead spin-off, er, companion series, has a new title: Cobalt. That series will take place in the same universe as The Walking Dead, but it will be set in a different location. Two actors, Frank Dillane (son of Stephen, and Tom Riddle in Harry Potter) and Alycia Debnam Carey have been added to the cast. The new series will focus on a divorced teacher and a female guidance counselor. Dillane and Carey will play the guidance counselor’s children. Here’s what they look like:
