All Your Favorite Shows Will Be Cancelled: Next Summer's Going To Blow

I was already worried about the state of television next summer because when Breaking Bad goes off the air at the end of this year there’s nothing slated to fill that cavernous hole in August. I mean, it’s certainly not going to be Low Winter Sun. Not even Mark Strong’s mum is watching that show.

Sure, The Newsroom was renewed for a third season. At least a complicated love/hate watch of that show will keep your heart rate up. But still the only great show anchoring the back end of summer is Broadchurch. But there’s a troubling rumor that series stars David Tennant and Olivia Coleman may not return. And we can all admit, even if it means we were wrong before, that The Bridge has gotten much better in the last few episodes. It’s been renewed but they’re replacing the long season arc (they have to) with more episodic mysteries. That sounds not nearly as interesting.

That enduring clustersuck, True Blood will creak out its final season next year and if the finale is any indication, they’re going full blownsies with this Vampires vs. Zombie Vampires concept. So that should be deliciously terrible. Of course the breakaway pop hit of the summer, Orange Is The New Black, is coming back next year but rumor has it Netflix will be running it earlier in 2014. No official date has been announced. But the real surprise of the summer was the third season of AMC’s The Killing. After an almost brilliant first season and a slog of a second season, they knocked it out of the park in season three. Everything was firing on all cylinders and I was really looking forward to finding out the consequences of Linden’s final act. AND THOSE BASTARDS CANCELLED IT. Again. Just when it was getting good. So f*ck you, AMC. F*ck you from the bottom of my heart. At least they went out on top. Cheers.
