'Alias' Brand Jennifer Garner Is Coming Back: [email protected]#k! And Yes!
When Alias debuted in 2001, J.J. Abrams originally envisioned it as “Bad-Ass Felicity.” And remember that pilot? I know we’re numb to the Ned Stark’ing of characters in 2017, but back in 2001, Alias killed off Sidney Bristow’s fiance in the pilot. For network television, that was a huge deal, and it would jumpstart an incredibly good spy thriller that lasted for four pretty amazing seasons and two seasons we don’t talk about.
Anyway, remember how good Jennifer Garner was in that role? Slipping in and out of wigs and costumes while beating Rimbaldi ass? Well, after that, there was Elektra, and then she got married and then separated, and lately, Jennifer Garner has mostly been playing Moms and Wives.
In her next role, however, Garner will once again play a Mom and Wife, but this time, she’ll be playing an angry, bloodthirsty Mom and Wife who is seeking revenge for the murders of her husband and daughter in a movie called Peppermint:
The high-action revenge thriller premise has been likened to John Wick, with a female protagonist. When her husband and daughter are gunned down in a drive-by, the heroine wakes up from a coma and spends years learning to become a lethal killing machine. On the 10th anniversary of her family’s death, she targets everyone she holds responsible, the gang that committed the act, the lawyers that got them off, and the corrupt cops that enabled the murderous incidents.
Jennifer Garner as an Atomic Blonde-like lethal killing machine? From the director of Taken? Count me the hell in.
Oh, and as for that bad ass Felicity?
