I don’t have a joke for this or anything. This isn’t funny. It’s perfect (purrrfect? ok, I’ll stop). Beyoncé has been officially cast in Jon Favreau’s upcoming live-action adaptation of The Lion King, playing Nala. She’ll be the lady-love of Donald Glover’s Simba. She’ll be a damn LIONESS.
It’s just SO PERFECT.
The rest of the cast is impressive too, of course. In addition to Bey and Glover, James Earl Jones will voice Mufasa (reprising his role from the original animated film), Chiwetel Ejiofor is Scar, Alfre Woodard is Simba’s mother Sarabi, John Oliver is Zazu, John Kani is Rafiki, Florence Kasumba is Shenzi, Eric André is Azizi, Keegan-Michael Key is Kamari, with Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen voicing Timon and Pumbaa. There was so much to love about this already. But now it’s like:
The film is slated for a 2019 release.
