So, Is She? A&E Cancels 'Longmire,' Leaving Katee Sackhoff Perfectly Free to Play Carol Danvers
I don’t know about You People, but I’m not at all buying what Katee Sackhoff has been trying to sell us. She’s been adamant about not having spoken with Marvel about a specific role, though she did meet with Stan Lee a while back, and alluded to secret goings-on. The thing is, all roads seem to be leading toward a future Ms. Marvel appearance; Warning: Possible Avengers: Age of Ultron Spoilers Ahead; please back out if you don’t want to read.
According to Badass Digest, at the end of Age of Ultron (in a cameo or after credits scene), Captain America will assemble a team consisting of some superheroes we’ve seen, and a few new members. The members are as yet not firmly decided, and may remain so until the scene is actually shot. BD does say Joss Whedon’s script indicated who they’d be, and the team includes Ms. Marvel. They also claim that Marvel may not want the female superheroine included because of plans for that character’s stand-alone film; Feige and company may prefer to introduce Carol Danvers on her own. (I recommend reading the linked article in full.)
Whether or not all these rumors are true, I think we can all agree Sackhoff is high on the list to play Danvers. Heck, Whedon has acknowledged she’s perfect for Marvel…even if his tweet was (purposefully?) misleading:
And now that A&E announced Longmire’s cancelation, Katee is free as a bird to play any superchick she chooses. Come on Marvel, get it together and hire this woman, stat.
