Adam Sandler Is Bringing 'Real Genius' to Television So He Can Ruin It. I Assume.

Val Kilmer used to play smartasses in comedic roles, if you recall. One of note is his role of Chris Knight in the 1985 comedy Real Genius. Knight befriends the young Mitch (Gabriel Jarret) and assists him in transitioning to college life and learning how to have fun. There’s also William Atherton as smarmy Jerry Hathaway, Jon Gries as Lazlo, the genius that snapped, and a scene with popcorn filling a house.

It’s basically amazing.

Adam Sandler and his Happy Madison company, together with Sony TV, 3 Arts, and NBC are hoping to bring the characters to television. It will be a single camera workplace comedy. Workplace. Not college. Workplace.

I’m guessing it will be the “nerd” humor of The Big Bang Theory in a workplace instead of an apartment and with characters already established twenty years ago. Gross. Let us instead focus on the ridiculous hotness of Young Val Kilmer and the irresistible charm he exudes.
