6 Bits and Bobs About Pretty People That Will Go Down Easy with Your Fish Fingers and Custard
Hopefully, by now you have managed to recover from the skirt-blowing spectacularity of the new Doctor Who trailer, and if so, let me pile on with the awesomeness by announcing the the 9th Doctor, Christopher Eccleston, will join Pajiba 10er Chris Hemsworth in the next Thor movie. He will play the supervillain, Malekith The Accursed, the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. And no: I’m not making up those words.
Meanwhile, casting continues on the next Jack Ryan film, starring Chris Pine and directed by Kenneth Branaugh, who has already cast himself as the villain. The short list for the female lead has been narrowed down to Keira Knightley (eh), Evangeline Lilly (NO), and Felicity Jones (yay!). According to Slashfilm, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel are out of the running. Here’s a picture of Felicity Jones. She’d make a nice pair with Pine.
Hey, that bearded lumberjack looking dude you like from that show and that movie, will be returning for a couple of episodes of How I Met Your Mother, according to TV Line. The last time he was on the show, in season two, he didn’t yet have the beard. He looked like a meathead.
Bryan Fuller (Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies) is working on two shows for the next network season, The Munsters reboot, which looks great, and Hannibal, based on the Thomas Harris characters. That show has Hugh Dancy as the lead FBI agent, Mads Mikkelson as Hannibal, Laurence Fishburne as another FBI agent, and now Caroline Dhavernas, the Wonderfalls alum who will be rejoining Fuller as a psychiatric protege of Hannibal Lecter’s who teaches psychology at Georgetown University and is consulting with the FBI on criminal profiling.
Bryan Singer has confirmed that the X-Men: First Class sequel will follow the “Days of Future Past” storyline, which means a lot more to some of you than to others. According to ScreenCrush:
The story centers on a teenage Kitty Pryde, member of the X-Men, who’s suddenly visited by her future self. She traveled back in time to have the X-Men prevent the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly that would be done so by Mystique and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
Ellen Page played Kitty Pryde in X-Men: The Last Stand. Also, where did Ellen Page go and why won’t she come back?
Finally, the next season of the “miniseries,” American Horror Story has gotten a slight change of title. It will be called American Horror Story: Asylum. The cast for the second season — set in an insane asylum in the 60s — includes returning cast members Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe — all playing different characters — as well as Franka Potente, Adam Levine, Charming Potato’s wife Jenna Dewan, Clea DuVall, Chloe Sevigny, Joseph Fiennes and James Cromwell.
