The extended trailer for the sixth season of The Walking Dead arrived today at Comic Con (you may have already seen the blurry leak this morning somewhere else), and it hints at a surprisingly cool direction in which Rick is the villain, or at least, everyone else thinks he is, including Daryl.
It’s my understanding that much of the season six storyline comes straight from the comics, but according to showrunner Scott Gimple, they’ve also fleshed out and beefed up those comic storylines. It appears that the arrival of Morgan completely shifts the dynamic, and in a way, he becomes the new Rick in the Alexandria Safe-Zone, presumably because the citizens of Alexandria no longer see the need for someone as ruthless and cutthroat as Rick.
Allegiances may shift. Rick may become the bad guy, but undoubtedly one that we’ll all find ourselves rooting for, as our own allegiances are tested.
The wolves are also arriving, and the zombies, once again, will pose a larger threat than in past seasons.
Oh and yes, that is Ethan Embry (Can’t Hardly Wait) in the trailer, which is a nice surprise since his casting was never announced.
Tick tock tick tock…
