It’s no secret around here that around these parts, we’re pretty darned excited about Gareth Edwards’ upcoming Star Wars anthology film, which has a mind-blowingly amazing cast of Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelson, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Jiang Wen, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, and is rumored to include the return of a James Earl Jones voiced Darth Vader. If the upcoming toy line is any indicator, Vader won’t be the only familiar character we’ll see.
At 2016 Nuremberg International Toy Fair this past weekend, several new Star Wars related toys were shown, and of particular interest was the inclusion of a certain ship that you may recognize.
As many fans immediately notice, that looks like Boba Fett’s Slave 1 ship, which may indicate the beloved (?) bounty hunter’s inclusion in the film; that fits with another rumor, that Felicity Jones is playing Fett’s daughter. Dun dun dun! Sound the cool-o-meter, because that would be pretty rad, no matter what Rebecca says (don’t ask me, my kid likes him). And hey, if Boba’s so dumb, why’s he getting (supposedly) his own anthology film?
Character costumes for Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Donnie Yen, and Jiang Wen were also on display at Nuremberg. Up till now, we’ve heard nothing much about their characters, but Making Star Wars has gotten hold of some code name information (and detailed description of a particular scene):
Felicity Jones’ character is codenamed Green Seal Leader by the production.
Seal Communicator Blue is Jiang Wen’s character (the guy with the red armor on behind Donnie Yen in the cast photo).
Eel Commander is Forest Whitaker’s character. This faction destination has led me to speculate he’s a bounty hunter affiliated character.
Seal Droid is Alan Tudyk’s character.”
Additionally, MSW claims that Tudyk is playing a “commando droid,” and they’ve gotten some interesting clues about Whitaker’s role, including that he’s a battle veteran, has one leg and uses a cane to walk. Whitaker is said to be playing a “good guy,” and his costuming involves a cape.

It’s pretty easy to match up the costumes to Jones, Luna, Yen, and Wen from the film’s cast photo,
but of course, they offer no hints to Mikkelsen (rumored as a good guy who wears earth tones) or Mendelsohn (rumored as a bad guy, who may or may not wear a white cape).
I now know that your Monday has ended exactly as all Mondays inevitably do: filled with confusion, and speculative over what’s to come. I share in your grief for Fridays past, and your hopeful anticipation of the one now only three-ish days away.
May the Force of Fridays be with you.
