While it’s clear we’re all pretty excited about this weekend’s big release, there are some people who are being a bit more demonstrative of their excitement than others. One favorite way to show one’s enthusiasm is apparently dressing up like a Stormtrooper or just having them around. Probably would’t be my first choice, those costumes look pretty hot and uncomfy, but they’ve shown up more than a few places recently. Here’s celebrity chef and food crusader Jamie Oliver walking his daughter’s to school in an original-trilogy style Stormtrooper outfit:
Embarrassing Dad !!! Haha

It says “Embarrassing” but his daughters look pretty OK with it. I approve. Sometimes when your parents are attempting to go out of their way to be embarrassing the best thing to do is just embrace it.
Over at the White House, a couple new style troopers escorted R2D2 into the building and into the press room for a photo op. Here’s a brief video showing them at the nation’s residence:

And finally, it turns out that 007 himself donned the armor for the movie, in a cameo as one of the faceless guards. There’s more details here as to where exactly he shows up but it could be considered mildly spoilery so I won’t mention exact details here.
So, any guesses as to what about the Stormtroopers is so fascinating or enduring? Just an iconic costume design, or something more?
