After many, many months of secrecy, J.J. Abrams has finally rolled out a few details for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We’ve got some publicity stills, a few character names, nothing too exciting, really. But what IS exciting is the manner in which the details were released. The images are modeled after the original 1970s Topps trading cards. Those cards were color coded, with five different groupings. Here we only have red and blue, but there are tons of characters we still haven’t seen. If this continues and we have an entire year of vintage-inspired marketing, it’ll make this long wait to the release date much more bearable.
By the way, when asked if there was any significance to the cards’ numbering, Abrams’ reply was an all caps “YES.”
We’ve already seen this little droid, spinning and bleeping through the trailer.
Is it a coincidence that Oscar Isaac’s character’s name reads like a drunk anagram of Cameron Poe, Nic Cage’s Con Air character? Probably. But we can dream.
Is this our Adam Driver? Unknown. All we do know is that this guy has the most controversial taste in lightsabers ever.
Played by Daisy Ridley, all we know is what you see here: a first name and a speeder.
John Boyega, what are you on the run from? Are you actually a Stormtrooper or are you in disguise (homage!)? I mean, aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper?
Case in point.
They also threw in these nifty X-Wings
And of course, The Millenium Falcon.
